It’s not just members of the Maryville College Family who think we’re great. We regularly rank among the best schools in the South, and funding bodies on the state and federal government levels regularly award us grants for important research and initiatives. MONEY: Best Colleges 2023

Money, formerly Money Magazine, analyzed dozens of data points, including graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid and alumni salaries to find colleges that combine quality and affordability. MC was named One of America’s Best Colleges where the investment of tuition and time pays off.

COLLEGES OF DISTINCTION

Colleges of Distinction annually recognizes colleges and universities that exhibit excellence in four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes. In addition to overall recognition in 2023, Maryville College earned badges for:

In an annual contest sponsored by Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine, Maryville College has been consistently ranked among the top adventure colleges in the Southeast.

Transfer Honor Roll badge

Transfer Honor Roll

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has named Maryville College to its 2023 Transfer Honor Roll in recognition of the dynamic pathways created to support transfer students.

Maryville College is one of 208 U.S. colleges and universities – and one of six in Tennessee – on the 2023 Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Honor Roll.

Carnegie Seal

CARNEGIE CLASSIFIED

In 2020, Maryville College received the Carnegie Foundation’s Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, an elective designation that indicates institutional commitment to community engagement. It is now one of nine institutions in the state of Tennessee to carry this distinction.

AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SPORTS MEDICINE

Maryville College is one of only six colleges and universities in Tennessee registered as an Exercise is Medicine® on Campus (EIM-OC) school. This global health initiative, backed by the American College of Sports Medicine, encourages faculty, staff and students to work together to improve the health and well-being of the campus community.

LEED CERTIFICATION

In 2013, Maryville College celebrated a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council following a renovation of Crawford House, which was built in 1876. Crawford House is the oldest structure in Tennessee and the second oldest in the country to earn the distinction.

SIERRA MAGAZINE

In 2016 and 2018, Maryville College was recognized as a “Cool School” by Sierra Magazine for its commitment to raise environmental standards on campus.
